Cumberland PC Troubleshooting Guide


  • The purpose of this guide is to provide basic steps to follow if a Cumberland kiosk is experiencing issues with its PC
  • This guide is intended for the personnel responsible for maintaining the kiosk

Testing the Display


  • Testing the display can help determine if the cause of the issue lies there or in the PC.
  • To test the display:
    1. Unplug the Kiosk and Plug it back in.
    2. If it's operational, the display should briefly show an ELO screen and then transition to a screen stating "No Video Signal Detected."

  • If the display is not operational, please see the Cumberland Display Troubleshooting Guide.
  • If the display is operational, continue to the next section.

Troubleshooting the PC


  • Troubleshooting a PC on a Cumberland kiosk will differ depending on whether the PC is powered on or off.
  • Open the kiosk enclosure and check the power status of the PC at the bottom of the kiosk.
  • The status of the PC can be determined by status indicator lights.
  • Below are some examples of the various PC models that can be found in a Cumberland kiosk.


If the PC is powered On:

  1. Attempt to reseat the video cable connection.
    1. Unplug the video cable going from the display to the PC on both ends.

    2. Depending on when the kiosk was shipped, this could be a VGA or HDMI cable.

  1. If the issue continues, attempt to replace the video cable
    • NOTE: These cables can be found in most retailers that sell electronics (i.e., Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart)
    • Check the back of the display to confirm what cables are compatible with the kiosk


If the PC is Powered Off:

  1. Attempt to reseat the PC power cable.
    1. Unplug the power cable going from the PC to the power strip on both ends.

    2. Depending on the power cable, there can be an additional connection going into a power brick.
